In the shadows of the Great Smoky Mountains, just 20 minutes from whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River, there's an old stone building with bars on the windows that overlooks our small vineyards. Legend has it that the local lawman locked up the hooligans here to cool down until they went before the magistrate. Now we use the jailhouse to incarcerate our wines.
We are the first of two wineries west of Biltmore! Located in the most beautiful valley in western North Carolina, Calaboose Cellars is now also the first commercial brewery in Cherokee County. We have constructed a single-tier brew system that can scale up to 1bbl (2-keg) batches using some of our winery equipment. Three styles of beer will be on tap at any given time poured by the pint at the brewery. Growlers will also be sold and refilled for customers to enjoy at home.
