Sparta, Town of

Sparta is the hub for community life of this northwest mountain community. The Courthouse stands in the middle of town and the stores and shops of the old downtown spread out along Main Street. Further down are two shopping centers and other stores. Most retail businesses are locally owned and merchants appreciate your patronage. Newcomers are welcome and by your second or third visit youll be lingering at the cash register, feigning wisdom about the weather. Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge, this small mountain town is as diverse as it is quaint. It is the home of lawn mower racing and the Sparta Teapot Museum of Craft and Design. The mountains and New River offer ample outdoor recreation. Live music traditional and contemporary is playing at some venue most weekends. The talent of local artisans reflects the areas beauty and heritage.

From I-77 take exit 83 (northbound traffic only) or exit 85 and follow US 21 north 28 miles up the Blue Ridge to Sparta, NC.
