Great Smoky Mountains Railroad

The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad takes passengers on a journey across fertile valleys and through river gorges in a spectacular region called The Great Smoky Mountains. The Railroad offers a 4-1/2 hour round-trip excursion in the beautiful western North Carolina mountains, with a wide array of ever changing vegetation and fantastic landscapes. Bryson City Departures travel into the Nantahala Gorge known for its white water activity. This excursion offers an optional Raft and Rail combination April through October. Box lunch options can be purchased at time of reservation or eat at restaurants in the gorge during layover. Also, foods can be purchased in the Conductors Car during the excursion. Other special events available include the Pumpkin Patch Express and Polar Express, Little Engine That Could, Day Out With Thomas, and Railfest. You can become a spectator of railroad activity with all the comforts of home from the Presidential Suite that overlooks the railroad's Bryson City Depot.
