Great Smoky Mountains Railroad

The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad takes passengers on a journey across fertile valleys and through river gorges in a spectacular region called The Great Smoky Mountains. The Railroad offers a 4-1/2 hour round-trip excursion in the beautiful western North Carolina mountains, with a wide array of ever changing vegetation, fantastic landscapes and white water scenes. All trains depart the Bryson City Depot.

First class passengers can enjoy the all-inclusive First Class Package with dining and souvenirs. The Nantahala Gorge Excursion offers an optional Raft and Rail combination April through October. Lunch options can be purchased at time of reservation, or may be purchased in the Conductors Car during the excursion. Other special events available include the Easter Beagle Express, Lone Ranger, Day Out With Thomas, Railfest, Pumpkin Patch Express and Polar Express.

You can become a spectator of railroad activity with all the comforts of home from the Presidential Suite that overlooks the railroad's Bryson City Depot. The 2-bedroom, 2 bath suite features a great room with Plasma Screen TV, fully equipped kitchen, wireless high speed Internet and dining area seating for 8.
