Built in 1859, the Cape Lookout Lighthouse is located on the Cape Lookout National Seashore. There is a Light Station Visitor Center and Keepers Quarters Museum also on the premises. The lighthouse is not open for climbing at present, but you may walk right up to its base.
The lighthouse is open for climbing on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from May 26 – Sept. 24. Climbs will begin every 15 minutes from 10:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Children under 8-years-old are not allowed
to climb and climbers under 16-years-old
must be accompanied by an adult.
