River House Country Inn & Restaurant

Much more than a bed and breakfast, River House is a full-sevice inn on the North Fork of the New River, near West Jefferson and not far from Boone in the northwest corner of North Carolina. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, we are far from the bustle of everyday life. A mile of riverfront for strolling, wading, kayaking, canoeing, tubing and fishing. Brown trout and rainbows abound. Walking trails wind through 170 acres. Our uniquely decorated guestrooms are converted farm buildings and feature king size beds, private bathrooms, Jacuzzis, art, books and country antiques. Awake each morning to coffee at your door followed by breakfast in the main house. For dinner, our restaurant offers exquisite cuisine, an international wine list and a full-service bar with all ABC permits. There are many things to do in the area from hiking, biking, fisining, kayaking, antiquing… or do nothing at all sitting down by the river under the 175-year-old sycamore tree. We host three outdoor festivals Celtic Fest 6/4/11, 9th annual Winefest 7/16/11, and 9th annual New River Blues Festival 9/4/11.

From the eastern part of North Carolina find your way to 421 north-west out of Winston-Salem. Follow 421 through Wilkesboro and look for 16 N intersecting 421 on your right.(About two miles past the Lowes Home improvement store.) Turn right on 16 N and stay on it no matter how it twists and turns. It is about 40 minutes to the River House once you are on 16 N. Once you cross the NORTH fork of the New River you make an immediate left turn down to Old Field Creek road. Just follow the signs to River House From the west come through Boone and find 421 east with signs towards Wilkesboro. About 10 miles outside of Boone look for 221 intersecting 421on the left and there is a traffic signal at the intersection. Turn left on to 221 follow signs to West Jefferson/Jefferson. Stay on 221 until 16N intersects on left. Follow 16N 8.5 miles until it crosses the North Fork of the New River.Immediately turn left after crossing the bridge Follow signs to River House…..Welcome.
