A small parking lot and boat ramp are maintained by the state Wildlife Resources Commission on the shore of the basin area. The unusual characteristics of the site have created a variety of habitats, including tidal flats, salt marshes, shrub thicket, maritime forest, sand dunes, ocean beach, and the hard surface of the rocks -- each providing for different bird and other wildlife. There are no trails on Zeke’s Island. The Reserve is accessible primarily by private boat while the barrier spit is accessible by foot or off-road vehicle.
