The Thomas Day House also known as the Yellow Tavern, was the workshop of Thomas Day in the 1820s and 1830s. Mr. Day was a free-black renowned for his fine cabinet making. Displays of his work are featured regularly in the North Carolina History Museum in Raleigh. The museum has 7 pieces of his work on display. In the early 1800s Mr. Day made 1/4 of the furniture that was made in North Carolina.
