The primary museum of general history in Buncombe County, with exhibits that reflect the pioneer history of Western North Carolina, interpreted in photos and artifacts from the Swannanoa Valley, east of Asheville. The Museum also offers many events that interpret the history of the area outside its walls. Monthly hikes explore high, hidden and historic places, and "Daycations" take people to places of interest throughout Western North Carolina.
