We oversee the state-owned historic sites, history museums, art museums, parks, aquariums and more. Whether you're looking to experience a symphony performance, attend an art show, visit a museum exhibit, explore a state park, wonder at an aquarium, or find a fun family event, we're here to help. If you're interested in discovering your family's genealogy, exploring N.C. history or learning how you can preserve your family treasures, we can help you too. In fact, we do a lot more.

We're all about what's happening today in the arts and music, but also about what's happened in the past to get us here. We're home to 27 historic sites, seven history museums, two art museums, the nation's first state-supported Symphony Orchestra, the State Archives, the State Library and the N.C. Arts Council.

Come join us and enjoy all of NC’s treasures!
