At the north end of Carolina Beach, visitors have long enjoyed the beach area now known as Freeman Park. Whether coming to the area to fish, swim, go boating, crabbing, or casting for minnows, people love Freeman Park. They are drawn to the beautiful beach with its variety of wildlife, dunes and majestic sea grasses indigenous to the region. It is one of the few areas on the East Coast that allow vehicles and overnight camping on the beach.

Permits are required, $100 annual or $20 day. You can purchase a day permit right at the entrance gate. Annual passes can be purchased at various places around town. Must have four wheel drive vehicle to navigate through the sand.
