Davidson's Fort was once the western-most outpost in Colonial America. The fort was originally constructed in 1776 with the assistance of troops provided by General Griffith Rutherford. Today, a non-profit organization has constructed a replica of the historic fort to interpret the pioneer-era history of Old Fort and the surrounding area.
