Popular streamside wooded picnic area alongside national forest service lands. In 1885, a gravity-forced geyser was constructed to mark the railroad gateway to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Once occupied by a well known hotel with visitors on their way through the Swannanoa Gap to the west.

Special Directions:

From the east, Exit 73 off I-40. From the exit ramp, turn right and head downtown. At the Arrowhead monument in the center of town, turn left onto US Highway 70. Follow to the first right, Mill Creek Road (Old US Highway 70). Continue 5 miles to the geyser on your left.

From the west, Exit 72 off I-40. Follow ramp toward Old Fort and cross the bridge over the RR tracks. Make the next left onto Mill Creek Road (Old US Highway 70). Continue 5 miles to the geyser on your left.
