Haliwa-Saponi Powwow

The annual Haliwa-Saponi Powwow is a special opportunity to experience the rich living traditions practiced by one of our state's most vibrant Native American communities. The majority of its 3,800 enrolled members live primarily in Halifax, Warren and adjoining counties near the North Carolina/ Virginia border. The tribe was recognized by the State of North Carolina in 1965, and held its first Powwow that year.
