Kure Beach Sea Turtle Patrol
Kure Beach is a peaceful retreat for all its guests, but thanks to a small army of volunteers, it’s also a safe haven for endangered loggerhead sea turtles. The Pleasure Island Sea Turtle Project sends its volunteers out searching for, and protecting, the nests of endangered loggerhead turtles during June and July so that the hatchlings can emerge in August and march to the sea.
