Think of North Carolina food and you’ll likely think of barbecue, but NC’s culinary palette goes way beyond barbecue. There’s the famously fried n’ fresh seafood style called “Calabash”, named after a coastal NC town with 1,420 residents and 32 restaurants. There’s the savory comfort of hushpuppies and grits and sweet potatoes found in our Southern cooking. Then there’s the NC foods that have grown up here and gone national, such as Krispy Kreme donuts, Mt. Olive pickles, and of course, Pepsi.
So, as you travel the state and sample North Carolina’s cuisine, by all means, have the barbecue. You’ll love it. But don’t forget to try some of the other tastes we have on our menu.
