Here are 10 family friendly, fun and free activites to do when you visit Bryson City and the Great Smoky Mountains area.

  • Explore the Deep Creek area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Offering hiking to three waterfalls, tubing, picnicking and camping facilities, this area is a favorite of visitors year-round!
  • Bring Fido along for a romp in Bryson City’s Island Park, located in the center of town along the slowmoving Tuckasegee River.
  • Stroll the charming downtown section of Everett, Main and Frye streets, and discover unique shops, fantastic restaurants and more.
  • Take a short drive into the Cherokee Indian Reservation and enjoy a culture that shaped the mountains long before the first Europeans arrived.
  • While in Cherokee, visit the historic Mountain Farm Museum located at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
  • Or, take a ride along the most visited scenic road in America, the Blue Ridge Parkway, which ends (or begins) in Cherokee.
