Guided Trail Walks At The North Carolina Arboretum
Nestled in one of the most beautiful natural settings in America, Pisgah National Forest near Asheville, The North Carolina Arboretum is well worth taking the time to explore. In addition to hiking or biking, visitors can also enjoy an in-depth overview of the 434-acre property by joining a guided walk led by an interpretive guide during the summer.
With more than 10 miles of hiking and biking trails adjacent to the Bent Creek Experimental Forest, the Arboretum is a popular destination for amblers and athletes alike. Most trails are easy to moderate in difficulty, making them suitable for all ages.
"Guided Trail Walks" are available on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons throughout the summer for $3 per adult and $2 per child. The walks take groups along woodland trails and through a variety of forest types. Depending on the season, topics of discussion include wildflower and plant identification, natural history and tree lore and the cultural and land use history of the Arboretum campus.
