Well we had a fabulous reunion. All 23 of us vs 15. What a hoot! Spent time in Asheville, Mt. Airy, went to an Alpaca Farm, did part of the Blue Ridge Mountains, numerous BBQ restaurants, antique shops, The Biltmore, historical stops, gobs of art galleries and made way too many purchases, bought lots of pottery - even stopped by Penland. WOW! Ready to come back for more in the Spring of 2010.

Love NC! One of the most beautiful drives from Knoxville to Asheville this time of year. Sorry to hear about the rock slide - Hope it doesn't affect your tourism too much. Lots of other ways to get there and a much more pleasant drive than the interstate.

Ah, wouldnt it be wonderful to win and visit NC again! I'm "wishin & hopin" as the song goes....hehehe....my husband has NEVER seen the leaves turn or experienced fall, EVER, can you imagine?? Not even snow! I'm from New England, but cant fly anymore, so the closest I get to that 'home feeling' is NC. From Florida, I can make it in 10 hours. Love your beautiful state, love the people too. Visited a few years ago...Blue Ridge mountains in October. Nothing like it. Climbed Grandfather Mtn, hung out in Boone, drove downtown...spectacular! Ah...thanks for the memories...hope to get back soon! Happy Fall to all of you, Gail

I am sitting in the middle of the desert in Southern Nevada where greenery is a luxury. A dear friend of 30 years just moved to E.TN where I visited her last month. We drove the Dragons Tail to Ashville. We wanted to drive to the coast but ran out of time. I am so glad she lives there now so I can visit more often. Next trip at Christmas, won't make it to the coast, saving that for spring. Love your state, I can see why so many boomers are moving there.

I've been entering the Fall getaways in the hopes of winning a trip. Although my husband and I have taken trips to NC and also looking for a home to retire to in the foothills, we would love to have another "excuse" to visit. We consider beautiful NC our future home and there is so much to do and see. What a fabulous state with so much untouched beauty. The people are so friendly and that blue NC sky is something we dream about.
Marcia post: (Thu - Oct 15, 2009 7:52 AM)

Are there ever any winners outside of North Carolina? I've entered for quite some time and never seem to see anyone winning from any other states. Thanks!
Gay Rusk post: (Wed - Sep 30, 2009 2:15 PM)
I always register to win a trip, but I never do win. Does Arkansas ever win any trips? I will keep trying and trying. NC is a beautiful state, my ancestors lived in Wilkes County, NC during the American Revolution. What a history lesson!! Thank you

My husband and I recently bought a lot of land in the Collettsville/Johns River area and will be camping there Oct. 12-16 with another couple. We would like to try kayaking or rafting (on our own) and were wondering if we will be able to rent appropriate equipment nearby. What would you say are 5 "must sees" within 25 miles or so of that area? Thanks, your input is much appreciated.

How come I did not win the contest?
Linda Davis post: (Thu - Sep 24, 2009 3:34 PM)
My Mother, sister and I have always wanted to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway. We have never had the chance to do this. Are you going to have a contest to "maybe" we would have a chance to enter and just maybe.....win?! I know that's just a dream, but I just wanted to let you all know that we love to come to NC. We went to the Carrowinds just a month ago. Had a great time, too. We go to Maggie Valley each time we are down in the Great Smokie Mountains. We love it over in there. It sure has grown up and is so lovely and peaceful. The people are fantastic. You can't beat them, except for us "Mountaneers" (Ha). We, also, visit Cherokee. It is changing everytime we go down there. We go or try to at least, 2-3 times a year. You have a great state, people and we love visiting there. Thanks for your hospitality when we do visit there.
Bobby post: (Thu - Sep 24, 2009 8:00 AM)
Jenn, I'd recommend calling the Grove Park Inn and see if you can get a group deal. I bet they will work with you if you tell them about the reunion. Also, you could eat there at their restaurant and not worry with carpools, weather, and such....besides you all will be tired from traveling to Asheville and it sounds like you want to make most of your time together. Janice, the bright colors begin, usually, by second week of October. If you like darker tones mixed with some bright, you could wait until 1st-2nd week of November (I'd suggest 1st week to play it safe). Enjoy!!
Jenn post: (Sun - Sep 20, 2009 1:47 PM)
We are having a mini-reunion (15 relatives) the weekend of 10-16 thru 10-19 in Asheville. Flying & driving in from PA, FLA, TX, NC. Where would be a good place for us to meet up - something centrally located in even if the weather is inclement. Also, a good restaurant that is reasonable for some that are on a tight budget. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Janice Roberts post: (Sun - Sep 13, 2009 7:44 PM)
My husband and I wanted to go to The Blueridge Parkway this October and I wanted to know what is the best week for fall colors to begun? Please let me know. Thanks
