November 16th Weekly Report
What perfect weather we had over this past weekend and some fabulous fall fishing as well.
Our coastal rivers have really had a great season of fishing, and this past week and weekend were no exception. On the Neuse River, spotted seatrout fishing has been as good as it gets. Both size and numbers of specks have been top notch. Puppy drum, flounder and of course striped bass catches have also been good. Anglers have been productive out of New Bern and Oriental. Pamlico County’s Bay River has also seen great catches of seatrout.
The Pamlico/Tar River has produced good catches of striped bass, and the Cape Fear River has seen a nice mixed bag of specks, stripers, redfish and flounder.
Along the Crystal Coast, seatrout fishing remains very good with the Cape Lookout jetty drawing much of the attention. Many other locations have seen good fishing, too, including the marshes and creeks around Beaufort and the Haystacks. Redfish have also been landed in those same locations.
From the Outer Banks, fisherman caught specks and black drum from the piers and surf, and anglers at Ocracoke caught some nice red drum from the beaches and inlet.
All the offshore ports reported yellow and black fin tunas, wahoo and a mix of billfish.
There is plenty of great fall fishing to go and, if you are dressed right, plenty of winter fishing as well. Grab a pole and head to the coast of North Carolina.
