After fueling up, let the parents enjoy a well-deserved coffee break at Papertown Coffee, where they can sip on top-notch brews and soak in the chill vibes before the day’s adventures begin.
Graveyard Fields
Next, enjoy a scenic and family-friendly hike at Graveyard Fields. Known for its cool tree tunnels and picturesque waterfalls, this trail is a great spot for a summer dip. The easy-to-navigate hike offers beautiful views and a chance to cool off in the waterfalls along the way. Traveling in fall? Graveyard Fields is one of the first places to sport peak foliage thanks to its higher elevation along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Head to Maggie Valley for a few rounds of mini golf at either Carpet Golf — family-owned and –operated for nearly 50 years — or Fantasy Golf. Check out the Mast General Store in Waynesville. A true kid-in-a-candy-store experience, it’s an old-fashioned general store filled with toys, games, candy, outdoor gear and vintage goods. Pick up souvenirs and treat the kids to some old-fashioned sweets while exploring the aisles.
HART Theatre
After lunch, wrap up your trip with a matinee visit to HART Theatre for a family-friendly show. The Haywood Arts Regional Theatre offers a variety of productions year-round, from musicals to plays that kids of all ages can enjoy. Check their schedule in advance to see what’s playing, then take in some local talent while making memories with the whole family.
