Twice Told Treasures
Begin your introduction to Dunn at Twice Told Treasures, where you’ll find a store filled with more than 30 antique vendors. It’s part of the Dunn area’s Thrifting Trail, a self-guided trail connecting more than two dozen antique stores, vintage markets and thrift shops, making it a favorite for treasure hunters.
Broad Street Deli
Broad Street Deli has been a downtown Dunn lunch staple since 2005, serving made-to-order sandwiches, homemade soups and salads. Dine inside the historic downtown space, or grab a seat at one of the outdoor bistro tables, and be sure to stroll through the market before you leave. Save room for a salad with Jamie’s famous homemade poppyseed dressing, a longtime customer favorite now sold by the bottle.
Downtown Dunn
Downtown Dunn makes an easy stop for a slow browse between meals or morning coffee. Walk the district to find locally owned boutiques like Bryant & Co. and The Makarious Monkey, home décor shops including Jeffrey Surles Living and Lexie & The Chi, and specialty retailers like Thread & Table and Jordan’s Jewelry. The storefronts are close together, making it simple to park once and wander.
LUCKNOW Bottle & Tap
LUCKNOW Bottle & Tap gives downtown Dunn a laidback place to wind down after a day of exploring. Stop in for North Carolina craft beer, margaritas, cocktails, mules and snacks like soft pretzels, with a relaxed setting that works for a casual night out. The taproom is also dog-friendly, so four-legged travel companions can come along. The Wine Thief and Black River Tobacco Company are other options for a beverage stop.
The Butcher's Table
The Butcher’s Table is built for a classic steak dinner without overcomplicating it. The locally owned restaurant serves cut-to-order steaks, a short-but-strong wine list, and crowd-pleasers like the blooming onion and barbecue bread. Plan ahead before you go — dinner service is limited to Fridays and Saturdays.
Bird's Nest Listening Room
Bird’s Nest Listening Room brings live music closer, with nationally touring singer-songwriters performing in an intimate space built for careful listening. Owners Sean and Carla shaped the venue from the back-porch house shows they began in 2020, keeping that same close connection between artists and audiences. Settle in for the music, then round out the evening with beer, wine or bourbon from the on-site bar.
Simply Divine Bed & Breakfast
Simply Divine Bed & Breakfast offers a historic home base in walking distance to all things downtown Dunn. Built in 1906 by US Congressman Hannibal Godwin, the restored home features 12-foot ceilings, wood paneling, fireplaces, hand-cut oak details and a library. Expect elegant rooms, personal Southern hospitality and made-from-scratch breakfast. Want to really travel in style for the weekend? Add a classic Rolls-Royce as your mode of transportation — complete with attired driver.
Coffee on Broad
Start the morning at Coffee on Broad, a family-owned coffee shop in the heart of downtown Dunn. Owners Seth and Angela serve Erwin Mills Coffee, a nod to the roasting company that started it all, plus pastries and handcrafted drinks with homemade syrups. Inside, chandeliers, bookshelves and a cozy front seating area give the shop the feel of a true neighborhood gathering place. Another option just around the corner is Sherry's Bakery, a downtown staple that's the "sweetest smelling corner in Dunn."
Gen. William C. Lee Airborne Museum
Visit the General William C. Lee Airborne Museum to learn how a hometown military leader became known as the “Father of the American Airborne.” Lee helped launch airborne training, led the first airborne command, and later developed plans for the air invasion of Normandy on D-Day. Set inside the restored home where Lee once lived, the museum shares the story of America’s airborne forces through artifacts, exhibits and the general’s own legacy.
Averasboro Battlefield and Museum
Visit Averasboro Battlefield and Museum to learn the story of one of NC’s most significant Civil War battlefields. The site preserves the Battle of Averasboro through museum exhibits, artifacts, maps, walking trails and living history programs that help explain what happened on the grounds. Leave time to explore the gift shop, cemetery and battlefield, where Confederate forces delayed Sherman’s march north in March 1865 before the Battle of Bentonville.
Rumble Pizza
Rumble Pizza brings a new brick-oven pizza stop to downtown Dunn with a soundtrack built in. Inspired by Dunn native Link Wray, the legendary “Godfather of the Power Chord,” the restaurant names its specialty pies after musical influences tied to the area. Order a handcrafted pizza, lean into the local music history and save the cinnamon roll pizza for dessert.
