Revolutionary Recreations
From period dress to hands-on living history moments, reenactments at Halifax make the site feel vivid, active and real. Instead of simply reading about the past, here visitors can step into scenes that bring Revolutionary-era life into clearer view.
The Bradford-Denton House
Adjacent to the historic site is the Bradford-Denton House, a restored 1760 home of a Fourth Provincial Congress delegate that features newly built replicas including a working kitchen and blacksmith's shop.
Birthplace of Independence
America 250
Adopted on this day, the signing of the Halifax Resolves in North Carolina marked the first official action by an entire colony calling for independence from British rule, months before the Declaration of Independence. For a limited time, you can come view the original Halifax Resolves historic document, returned to it's North Carolina home for the first time since 1776 until October 6th, 2026.
