We offer information on Smoky Mountain adventures with a natural beauty still unspoiled by crowds. Home to Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, Slickrock Wilderness Area, Nantahala National Forest and border on Great Smoky Mtn National Park. The Appalachian Trail winds through the county. Lake Santeetlah is 75% forest land, insuring it will never be spoiled by development. Fontana Lake has 27 miles of water to explore, and Fontana Dam is a must see! 

Our trout streams boast national reputation, and Cheoah River has first-class rapids for whitewater enthusiasts. Tsali Recreation Area and Santeetlah Lake Trails attract both mountain bikers and horseback riders. We have three of the best motorcycle/sports car roads in America - Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway and Moonshiner 28. Come for the day or week and make memories to last a lifetime!
