It’s smooth sailing on the NC coast
Adventure by sky, sea, sound or sand on your North Carolina beach trip.
Wing it
Spring migration brings a variety of coastal birds to wildlife refuges and state parks. Bring binoculars and plan around golden hour. Bonus: Many of these spots are also great for quiet picnics, reading or sketching.
Catch of the day
Some fishing piers — like Outer Banks Fishing Pier in Nags Head, Rodanthe Pier and Kure Beach Fishing Pier — don’t require a fishing license to cast a line. But if you’re fishing sounds or coastal rivers, purchase a North Carolina Coastal Recreational Fishing license online before heading out.
Craving a rush? Try hang gliding off a sand dune or skydiving over the coast. More into chill than thrill? Paddle calm waterways or wander trails at your own pace.
