Sept. 24 Report - Lake James State Park

Ranger Kevin BischofSept. 24 Report - Lake James State Park

Sept. 24, 2013, looking north towards Shortoff and Table Rock Mountains and the Linville Gorge from the Linville Gorge Overlook at Paddy’s Creek access of Lake James State Park.

Most trees are still mostly green. Due to the high amount of rain there has been some early color change, but no bright colors. Many Poplars have started their change and present some yellow and browns. Some Maples have started to lose their leaves as well, but without their typical bright Maple colors. In addition, the Sumac and Sourwoods are starting to show their early season reds.
