Sept. 23 Report - Elk Knob State Park

Todd

Fall in the mountains brings more than just tree color. Fall wildflower colors are spectacular. Yellow goldenrod, lavender asters, deep purple ironweed, pink Joe Pye weed, white Queen Anne’s lace and blue lobelia are everywhere. Red trees are starting to show on the southern slopes although not in profusion yet. A few more cold nights should bring some beautiful tree colors. Sumacs are putting on a show in the valleys with their reds and pinks.
