Oct. 9 Report - Stone Mountain State Park

Roaring Gap

Michael WoodOct. 9 Report - Stone Mountain State Park

Oct. 9, 2013, Main park road.

We still have a lot of green leaves throughout the park, however we are beginning to see more color along our creeks and river. Tulip poplar trees are turning gold and the dogwoods, sourwoods and blackgums are turning a nice color red.

During the next week, we expect a gradual increase in color with oaks and hickories. We should see peak color in less than two weeks.
