Oct. 4 Report - Lake James State Park

Ranger Kevin BischofOct. 4 Report - Lake James State Park

Oct. 3, 2013, Looking east towards the bridge over Paddy’s Creek in the Paddy’s Creek Area of Lake James.

The park’s trees are still mostly green. Due to the large amount of rain, there has been some early color change but no bright colors. Poplars have started their change and present some yellows and browns. Some maples have started to lose their leaves as well, but without their typical bright colors.

In addition, the sumac, dogwoods and sourwoods are starting to show their early season reds. To accent the fall tree colors, some asters and goldenrod are adding lovely warm colors to the park.
