Oct. 27 Report - Grandfather Mountain

Skip SicklerOct. 27 Report - Grandfather Mountain

Oct. 27, 2013, Fall color at 3,000 feet to 4,000 feet elevation.

There's still some great color to be found in the Matney area in Watauga County. Color is starting to develop well at elevations from 1,000 feet to 2,000 feet. Some color can still be found around elevations from 3,000 feet to 4,000 feet, as shown in this photo.

While there are still many fall hues brightening the landscape of the High Country, color is really developing along the routes that lead into the area like N.C. 181 from Morganton, U.S. 221 from Marion and U.S. 421 from Wilkesboro.
