Oct. 25 Report - Grandfather Mountain State Park

Park Superintendent Sue McBeanOct. 25 Report - Grandfather Mountain State Park

Oct. 13, 2013, Grandfather Trail in Grandfather Mountain State Park.

It’s almost magical seeing snowflakes and leaves swirling together in the wind. Even more charming is waking up to a snow dusted mountain ridge towering over the fall colors below.

Some areas in the park are still dappled with color, along with a bit of snow, though not as bright and thinning in windier areas. As it custom though, autumn fades off the mountain, promising more leaf-peeping opportunities in the lower elevations of western North Carolina.
