Oct. 18 Report - Lake James State Park

Ranger Kevin BischofOct. 18 Report - Lake James State Park

Oct. 18, 2013, Looking north towards the Linville Gorge from Lake James.

The park’s trees are starting to show a little more color. The color change has been on time this year. Poplars have mostly changed and present some yellow and brown leaves. Maples have started to lose their leaves as well, but without their typical bright colors. In addition, sumac, dogwoods and sourwoods are starting to show their early season reds. Views of the Linville Gorge from the park present full peak color at higher elevations.
