Patriotic Day at the Beach

What better way to spend this patriotic holiday than a day at the beach? Event includes sand sculpture building, volleyball, bocce ball and skateboaring contests organized by the Oak Island Park and Recreation Department. There will also be entertainment that evening, a shag contest organized by the Brunswick Society of Shaggers and anniversary fireworks celebrating the merger of the towns of Long Beach and Yaupon Beach into the Town of Oak Island in 1999.

Hwy. 133 to Oak Island. Right at light onto Oak Island Drive. Follow Oak Island Drive to 46th Street. Turn left onto 46th Street toward the beachfront. Middleton Park Extension is in the second block from Oak Island Drive stretching to Beach Drive.
