Enjoy a night of Bluegrass and Americana music East Carolina University’s S. Rudolph Alexander Performing Arts Series featuring North Carolina’s own Steep Canyon Rangers and Hank, Pattie & The Current!
Hailing from NC’s Appalachian and Piedmont regions, the Rangers are known for traditional bluegrass roots and blending various influences from their region. They have gained recognition beyond bluegrass as influential Americana songwriters, earned three Grammy nominations and a Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album in 2013, collaborated with actor and banjoist Steve Martin, have been inducted into the NC Music Hall of Fame, and performed on some of music’s biggest stages.
Bluegrass visionaries Hank Smith (banjo) and Greenville native Pattie Hopkins Kinlaw’s (fiddle) innovative twist on traditional bluegrass music is a soulful brew flavored with classical, Motown, jazz, and pop influences.
