On the first Saturday of every December, downtown Brevard trades its Land of Waterfalls scenery for twinkling lights, decorated storefronts and ice skating on Main Street.
Festivities begin at 2 p.m. with the Merry Makers Market, where 20-plus regional artisans sell handmade crafts, pottery, jewelry and holiday gifts alongside food trucks serving sweet treats and grab-and-go bites. At 3 p.m., the Brevard/Transylvania Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade travels through downtown with floats, marching groups and costumed characters.
Afterward, the celebration continues with hayrides, fire pits and s'mores, strolling carolers, visits with Santa and a community reading of "The Night Before Christmas." The evening closes with the ceremonial lighting of the community Christmas tree at the historic Transylvania County Courthouse. The downtown Social District runs until 10 p.m. for guests 21 and older.
