Step back in time at John Lawson Legacy Days, a free, family-friendly living history weekend celebrating the rich pioneer heritage of Eastern North Carolina.

This immersive event brings history to life with colonial and Civil War encampments, historical demonstrations, cannon fire, live music, traditional crafts, and hands-on activities for all ages. Meet reenactors, learn about explorer John Lawson and the legends of Blackbeard, and watch skilled artisans demonstrate historic trades including blacksmithing, rope making and woodworking.

From exploring historic camps along Contentnea Creek to discovering the stories and traditions that shaped our region, John Lawson Legacy Days offers a unique way to experience Eastern North Carolina’s past.
