Join us as we celebrate our country’s semiquincentennial: the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence!

The day begins with a performance by the Tryon Palace Fife and Drum Corps and an interpretive reading of the Declaration of Independence on the front steps of Tryon Palace. After the reading, the Grounds and Gardens are open to the public with no admission until noon. Immediately following the reading, the Fife and Drum Corps marches off the Palace Grounds to take their place at the head of the New Bern Independence Day Parade and then leads the parade to its final destination.
Be sure to stop by the North Carolina History Center to see our A250 NC exhibit, Freedom and Identity: Symbols of a New Nation. This exhibit contains items from the Tryon Palace Collection that pertain to the American Revolution and the earliest days of our nation–including items that are new to our collections and will be displayed for the first time at Tryon Palace.

Admittance to the Gardens is free until 12 noon. Tryon Palace tours are available with purchase of One Day Pass.
