Visit Fort Fisher State Historic Site, a National Historic Landmark, this spring for its annual Artillery Program Day. Public programs will be held between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., including live artillery demonstrations throughout the day.
Get an inside look at special art exhibits that display period artwork. Learn how civilians documented war through sketches, paintings and other visual media. Expect to see living history interpreters and community groups providing demonstrations and family-friendly activities.
If you want to dig deeper into the history, three "Above the Scenes" guided tours will be available throughout the day for $10 plus fees; tickets can be purchased at the first-floor information desk in the visitor center.
