Celebrate Doc Watson Day with an evening of music honoring the late local legend on the Jones House lawn.
Each year since 2011, the Jones House has invited musicians influenced by the life and musical stylings of the Grammy-winning artist. Doc himself, from Deep Gap, NC, was able to perform at the first Doc Watson Day celebration at age 88, after a bronze statue in his honor was unveiled on King Street.
This year, Doc Watson Day performers include Eliot Smith & Noah Lanham, Olivia Phillips, Trevor McKenzie & Steve Kruger, and Nick Chandler and Delivered
Bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy this free outdoor concert, right in the heart of downtown Boone.
The celebration continues on Saturday, August 15th, with a ticketed performance from Tommy Emmanuel, CGP at the historic Appalachian Theatre. Visit apptheatre.org for tickets.
