The Brevard Plein Air Festival returns for its sixth year as a juried painting event celebrating the landscapes, communities and creative spirit of Brevard and Transylvania County.
Throughout the week, artists set up easels across the county — from downtown sidewalks and locally owned businesses to waterfalls, mountain overlooks, valleys and hidden scenic spots. Each work is painted on-site, giving visitors a chance to watch artists capture the area in real time.
Public events include a Quick Draw on Thursday, September 17, when artists create completed paintings in downtown Brevard within two hours. Visitors can watch over their shoulders, observe different techniques and ask questions as the artwork takes shape.
The festival culminates on Saturday, September 19, with the Street Festival and Wet Paint Show & Sale in downtown Brevard. Guests can browse and purchase works created throughout the week while enjoying live music, food trucks, local vendors and refreshments within the Heart of Brevard Social District.
A ticketed Patron Preview Reception offers an earlier opportunity to view and purchase artwork in an intimate gallery setting. Admission includes light hors d’oeuvres, curated wines from Territory Wine Market, nonalcoholic beverages and live music. Check the website for details.
