Join us for an inspiring day of lectures, living history demonstrations and hands-on experiences as we commemorate the upcoming 250th anniversary of America's independence. Step inside the historic Allen House to experience the sights and aromas of open-hearth cooking and meet an 18th-century surgeon to learn about the medical practices used on the battlefield during the War of Independence. Throughout the day, costumed reenactors will bring history to life with living history presentations, musket demonstrations, and an artillery demonstration.
Visitors can also explore the compelling traveling exhibit "People of Colonial North Carolina," which highlights the diverse and often conflicting experiences of the communities that called North Carolina home during the American Revolution. Through maps, rare documents, and vivid illustrations, the exhibit reveals how the struggle for independence shaped the lives of everyday people.
Plan to spend the day discovering Alamance County's pivotal role in the fight for American independence!
