Now in its 36th year, Ghostwalk is a family-friendly fall event that combines spirits from New Bern's past, talented local volunteer actors, historic sites, and a fun-filled, creative environment.
Each year features a new theme, new scenes and new characters! This year's theme is "Voices of Freedom," tying into the America 250 celebration. Ghostwalk is not a haunted house, spooky, supernatural or homes tour. Tickets are good for one night or all three.
Guides will lead you through the stops at Cedar Grove cemetery, at which you will hear lively stories based on real historical characters and events. The remainder of the event is self-guided, with historical spirits sharing their spirited tales on outdoor porches and in select buildings in downtown New Bern. Local churches offer tours and a budget-friendly meals for Ghostwalk visitors.
There will be 13 Ghostwalk stops open including six at Cedar Grove Cemetery with the remainder on front porches. Enjoy special Historical skits on Attmore-Oliver House back porch. Veri-Good Bakery will be on hand with yummy treats behind Attmore-Oliver House.
Additionally, on Friday and Saturday nights, watch for a “thrilling” musical happening at New Bern Academy Green, on the corner of New & Hancock Streets, from dusk until... (Shhh, it's a secret!)
Plan to stay in New Bern during the daytime hours (when the ghosts are resting!) so you can fully explore this beautiful area.
