Celebrate the beauty of fall and the best of Appalachian culture at the 43rd Annual Mountain Glory Festival in historic downtown Marion. This beloved one-day festival draws thousands to Main Street, spotlighting regional makers and the joys of small-town mountain living. Explore three jam-packed blocks filled with specialty food vendors, handcrafted artwork, fall-inspired decor, pottery, jewelry, woodwork, and textiles. Downtown stages host local entertainment throughout the day, featuring Marion's finest musicians and a variety of music, including gospel and traditional mountain tunes. You can also enjoy local restaurants, pubs and taprooms offering festival foods, local wines, mead and beers.

A signature event during the festival is the Quilt Show held inside the McDowell Arts Council, where you can view a stunning variety of handmade quilts created by regional quilters. Bring the kids to the "Kid's Korner" for hands-on activities, games, inflatables, face painting, spin art, a fishing booth, and tutu-making. Don't miss the exciting local entertainment on the Family Stage, which hosts the popular Best-Dressed Pet Contest.

For runners, the Mountain Glory Challenge 5K Foot Race kicks off the day at 8 a.m. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for an appearance by Bigfoot, the official city animal of Marion.
