Travel back to the early 1800s at this immersive living-history experience, now in its 41st year. On festival day, Hart Square Village bustles with more than 300 costumed artisans and historic demonstrators sharing the traditional crafts, trades and daily life of Carolina's pioneers — from flax making and cotton baling to tinsmithing and apple butter making, all set to the sounds of old-time music. Each demonstrator helps tell the story of the people who lived, worked and built communities in the Carolina backcountry, offering a rare opportunity to experience these traditions firsthand.
With more than 30 vendors, the Arts & Crafts Marketplace offers a broad range of handmade arts, crafts and specialty goods, including pottery, fiber arts and more.
Hart Square Village is home to the nation's largest collection of historic log structures. On festival day, all 103 historic buildings open their doors for a rare, hands-on journey into North Carolina's past.
Festival parking begins at 8 a.m.
