Often called “the greatest play ever written in the English language,” the tragedy of Hamlet, The Prince of Denmark, explores many themes including treachery, revenge, moral corruption, duty and madness. Grieving over the sudden death of his father, Prince Hamlet encounters the king's ghost on the ramparts of the castle, who tells him that all is not as it seems in Denmark. The play takes the audience through family secrets, tragic events and a roller coaster of emotions from grief to rage, trickery to madness, comedy to tragedy. Come enjoy the drama and the intrigue of the royal court as we close our summer outdoor season with the story of Hamlet.
