Point of Interest
Brock Mill and Pond
212 Market St., Trenton, NC 28585
Dating back to the 1700s, Brock Mill began as a gristmill grinding corn and later evolved into a small-scale hydroelectric plant that once powered the town of Trenton in Jones County. Today, it stands as a quiet testament to the region’s resilience and resourcefulness — surrounded by 132 acres of reflective pond, cypress trees draped in moss, and boardwalks that invite you to slow down and look closer.
The mill itself is open to the public only during the annual Jones County Heritage Festival, but the surrounding grounds are accessible year-round. Locals and travelers alike come to wander the walking trails, spot wildlife among the indigenous plants, photograph the peaceful water or cast a line from the fishing pier. It’s a place where time stretches, geese glide and history lingers — not in plaques, but in the landscape itself.
