Yadkin Valley: Charm By The River – Piedmont Trail

Three Wineries, Distance Of 22.2 Miles – Tucked between Interstate 77 to the west and Winston-Salem to the northeast, this wine trail has much to offer beyond tastings and tours. If you visit on a Saturday in the warmer months, these three vineyards offer a ‘wine trolley’ to take you door to door between them. The Rag Apple Lassie Vineyard is a hot air balloon port for the Yadkin Valley Balloon Adventures, allowing guests to get a birds-eye view of the entire area.  And the Flint Hill Vineyards offer a fine dining experience to go with your wine at the Century Kitchen.

Flint Hill Vineyards

Directions:

  1. From I-77: Take Exit 85 (NC Highway 268 Bypass) toward Elkin, turn right at CC Camp Road, and another right at Friendship Church Road. Turn left on NC Highway 268, follow for 9.4 miles. Turn right at Rockford Road, follow for two miles to Stony Knoll Road. Turn left to get to Stony Knoll Vineyards.

    From US-52: Take Highway 268 West for approximately 10 miles.  Turn left onto Double Creek Road for 1.2 miles, make a slight right onto Stony Knoll Road.  Follow for 1.6 miles to Stony Knoll Vineyards.
  2. Head southwest on Stony Knoll Road to Rockford Road, take a slight left. Follow Rockford Road for 8.5 miles to get to Rag Apple Lassie Vineyards.
  3. Go north on Rockford Road for 1.2 miles, then take a right onto NC-67.  Follow NC-67 for 8.4 miles, then take a right onto Flint Hill Road. The Flint Hill Vineyards will be four miles down Flint Hill Road.
  4. To return to Interstate 77 or US Highway 52 , continue south on Flint Hill Road until it dead ends at Old Highway 421.  A left turn here will get you onto Yadkinville Road toward Winston-Salem, a right will take you to US Highway 421, which will go either west toward I-77 or east toward I-40 or US-52.

Winery hours vary seasonally. Please call ahead to be sure the vineyards you want to visit will be open when you arrive. Please drink responsibly. Designate a driver.
