Wineries & Vineyards
The Knotts Island Wine Mini-Trail: Coast
Two Wineries, Distance Of 0.6 Miles – Tucked into the northeastern corner of North Carolina just south of the Virginia state line is Knotts Island, home to two small NC wineries that are within walking distance of each other!
Like all of our coastal vineyards, Martin Vineyards and Moonrise Bay both grow and produce wines from scuppernong grapes, but unlike most coastal wineries, they also grow and produce vinifera grapes. That means those who prefer Merlot over Muscadine will find something to their liking as well. Both wineries offer picnic areas with vineyard and island views, and both sponsor occasional events that prove popular with locals and visitors alike. Martin Vineyards also offers pick-your-own apples, peaches, pumpkins and grapes in season.
