Daniel Stowe Named Top Wedding Venue

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden has been named one of the Southeast’s best wedding venues in 2009 by The Knot, a national resource for wedding planning that operates a magazine, a website and other media outlets.

The Garden hosts about 100 weddings each year. Couples can wed in specifically designated areas during regular operating hours or rent the entire facility exclusively at night. Typically, popular timeslots are booked more than a year in advance.

In 2003, the Garden developed the Nellie Rhyne Stowe White Garden specifically for wedding ceremonies. The courtyard garden, which is surrounded by stately arbors and a hedge, is planted with an all-white theme. White crocus, tulips and daffodils of spring give way in summer to a large arbor of blooming white roses. Lilies, hibiscus and white blooming trees complete the theme for summer.

The Robert Lee Stowe Visitor Pavilion typically serves as the reception site. The Garden utilizes services of four of the area’s best catering services as exclusive providers for its brides.

The Garden was among only eleven North Carolina venues to be recognized in the receptions sites category. The Peninsula Yacht Club in Cornelius was the only other area venue to be recognized.

The magazine compiled the list, published in its annual “Best of Weddings” issue, with information obtained from more than 20,000 recently married brides. In addition to venues, the magazine also recognized cakes, photographers, flowers, planners, bands, dress shops and more.

For more information call the Garden’s private events department at 704-829-1268.
